I've written a topic about dopamine on this website. Dopamine is one of the most common inotropes used in the ICU. The drug is often titrated to achieve the desired therapeutic effect while closely monitoring the patient's response. Dopaminergic effects (0.5 to 2 micrograms/kg per minute) may primarily affect renal blood flow. I mentioned The ROSE trial in the topic. Beta1 effects (2 to 10 micrograms/kg per minute) tend to increase cardiac contractility, and alpha effects (> 10 micrograms/kg per minute) increase systemic vascular resistance.
